The creation story of the Jam strain

🍇 JAM 🥝 – Strain History

The berry-and-fruit flavor concentrate of 🍯JAM is built on the rising-star strain Kiwi Sours by Alien Genetics and the legendary Purple Punch (UKHTA cut “Grapes”).

🧬Genetics:

Kiwi Sours (Alien Genetics) x Grapes (UKHTA Genetics)

🥝Kiwi Sours:
Bubblebelts (Rainbow Belts V3 x Tahoe Alien Bubblegum) x MoonArc (Moonbow 112 IX x Alien Rock Candy)

🍇Grapes:
Purple Punch pheno #15
aka “Grapes” Alpha cut
(Larry OG x Grand Daddy Purple) #15

Mother line:

👽Alien Genetics is a California seedbank founded in 1999 in the town of 🏘️Honeydew and known for strains like 🌟StarFighter, 🍏Sour Apple IBL, 🍬Pebbles, 🍭Alien Rock Candy and others.

One of Alien Genetics’ biggest recent hype strains is Kiwi Sours. Some of its phenotypes are seriously impressive with their frosty, resin-caked appearance.

Alien Genetics described in detail all
🥝 4 Kiwi Sours phenotypes using their F2 version as an example:

1) ⛽️GAS pheno:

This pheno stands out with its pronounced diesel flavor and sharp sweet-and-sour kiwi-diesel terp profile. You also get ZkittleZ notes in the aftertaste. Finishes in 8 weeks.

2) 🍈GUAVA pheno:

This pheno is defined by a powerful guava aroma with an unusual tropical flavor that’s both sweet and tart.
In the taste you can pick up pear, strawberry and mango with a candy-like sweetness.
There are also musky notes in the flavor, and the flowers grow in a conical shape.
This is the heaviest-hitting pheno of the 4 in terms of effect.

3) 🍒🫐JUICY FRUIT pheno

The favorite pheno – the best of the 4 according to the creator of the strain.
It has an intense fruity flavor of the classic Juicy Fruit gum. As the breeder describes it himself: “The same flavor explosion as when you stuff a whole pack of Juicy Fruit into your mouth and chew it – only stronger..”
The plant forms round flowers on a thick stem and finishes in 8 weeks.

4) 🍬BubbleGum pheno

Flavor of classic pink 🍬“Double Bubble” gum with a bright sour note.
🍭Caramel aftertaste smoothly merging into a rich chewy bubblegum flavor.
This is the most productive pheno, giving big flowers on a thick sturdy stem and finishing in 8 weeks.
🌟The highest-yielding phenotype of the 4.

🌾Father line:

🍇Grapes by UKHTA is the #15 phenotype of Purple Punch from the strain’s original creator, Supernova Genetics.
I traded this #15 pheno for our male Candy Rain (Cookies Fam) with my friend, a breeder from 👨🏼‍🌾5 Growers Collective.
#15 is a rare Purple Punch phenotype with a very intense, sweet grape flavor of 🍷“Isabella” – a grape that’s famous for its 🍓strawberry-like aftertaste.
The conical flowers form wave-like 🌊“curls” of long stigmas on the surface of the buds, which makes them look slightly frizzy.

🍇GRAPES phenotypes:

Since Grapes is an S1 version, you also get different phenotypes in the seeds, and their main difference can be caught in the aroma coming from the plant’s stem.
If the stem smells 🌿grassy on day 30, you’ll end up with a straight 🍇grape version of the strain.
But if the stem smells 🍓fruity by the end of veg, you’ll get the 🍷“Isabella” version with that strawberry nuance.

The strongest and rarest phenotype of the strain is the “Black” Purple Punch, whose leaves and flowers are an extremely dark purple.
This pheno has around 30% active compounds and an unusual blackberry–blackcurrant flavor, which sets it apart from the other two phenotypes.

📜The story of the Grapes aroma starts with the creation of Grand Daddy Purple by the company of the same name, GDP.
This strain is legendary and, despite its impressive flavor, very oldschool.
Later, Supernova Genetics decided to “boost” the power of this grape line with the potent Larry OG – and that’s how the well-known grape strain Purple Punch appeared, which also stood out for its heavier resin production on the flowers.

Since I had 🥝Kiwi Sours from the first generation (not F2), I had fewer phenotypes to choose from.
However, the description of the GAS pheno by the creator of the strain (Alien Genetics) fits best the particular plant I selected to work with for 🍯JAM (back then it still didn’t have a name).

🍯JAM is a hybrid strain with the flavor of canned fruit or 🍓fruit jam. There are both sour 😝“sour” versions and sweet 😋“sweet” versions – all with concentrated fruity aromas.

🌹The hybrid JAM finishes in 8 weeks and is an early-maturing strain, though the more sour phenos might need an extra, 9th week to fully ripen.
JAM is predominantly of 🛖“Indian” origin, so it delivers a sedative, slightly 😴sleep-inducing therapeutic effect.
⚡️Potency is strong: 7–8 out of 10.

This is a bushy, compact plant with lots of long branches, which gives it a 🌳ball-shaped structure.
The flowers come in two structural types – conical, smooth, rock-hard 🪨 buds, and conical “rocket” buds 🐏with curls.
The second type – the “curly” buds – have a dense but slightly porous structure, unlike the rock-hard ones which have zero voids.
However, the “curly” bud structure is more 🌵productive and grows faster in veg compared to the rock-hard flowers.

Both phenotypes dislike excessively 😰high humidity, but going too low on RH can dull the plant’s aroma 😟.
Ideal humidity is around 🫧60%.
They drink water very actively if the plant is healthy! If the plant starts drinking less (not counting the usual slowdown at the flip to flower), it probably means it’s under some kind of stress.

🧪The “rock-hard” phenotype a.k.a. “Sour” needs slightly lighter feeding than the “curly” a.k.a. “Sweet” pheno, as the “curly” one develops faster.
