Since the days of the industry-hyped strain 🖍️Permanent Marker, things have changed.

🐸 TOAD VENOM.

The strain Permanent Marker has already dropped out of the top three, and now the list of the most interesting strains on the market is topped by 🐸Toad Venom.

Toad Venom literally translates as “Toad Venom”.

Toad Venom isn’t actually a strain in the classic sense, but a pretty rare phenotype found by the grower Green Dragon among 30 seeds of the hybrid Animal Face x Sin MintZ from Ronin Seeds.

So tracking down the exact same phenotype is a pretty tough task, especially if you’ve never seen the real Toad Venom in person.

However, there’s no reason to be upset, because the legendary breeder Tha Docta from Archive Seedbank has started working with this clone. And as you probably know, Tha Docta is famous for taking elite and tricky genetics, like the strain ZkittleZ, and actually improving them.

For example, if we look at his work with the original 🍬ZkittleZ, he boosted the yield and seriously cranked up the resin production, while not changing but amplifying the original aroma and flavor. He then named this strain 🌈Rainbow Belts (by the way, we have the Rainbow Belts 2.0 version in our lineup), becoming almost the only seedbank offering the true ZkittleZ terp profile in seed form.

Knowing how this breeder operates, we can say with almost full confidence that we should expect his version to showcase the very best traits of Toad Venom.

All the hype around Toad Venom is built on its unusual aroma – a weird, “poisonous” twist on the ZkittleZ flavor that’s hard to put into words. On top of that, Toad Venom stands out with a very powerful effect, which you don’t always get from Cali genetics.

🫐 BLUEBERRY CAVIAR.

Third on the list of the most interesting modern strains is Blueberry Caviar.

The key focus of this strain is its flavor. The well-known portal Leafly describes the aroma as: “An abnormally 🗣️loud blueberry scent.”

The creators of the strain, Ridgeline, list the genetics as:
🧬 Lantz and Grape Gas, which shows that all three strains in this block come from the same ZkittleZ family, which has been the main starting point for breeders for many years now.

🏄🏿‍♀️TIDE.

Rounding out the top three best strains is Tide from Wizard Trees.

This strain has nothing to do with the well-known laundry detergent brand; literally it translates as 🌊“Tide”, or more loosely “Wave”.

The most striking trait of this strain – and the reason for all the hype – is a fresh, unusual variation of the 🍬Z terp profile, plus a beautiful flower appearance with a bluish tint reminiscent of ocean water. Tide is covered in 💎 crystals that give it a bright white frost, like the crest of a breaking wave.

Another interesting point: Wizard Trees does not reveal the genetics behind this strain, although reviewers all note that Tide clearly leans on a Z-based aroma.
